Four people detained in French Polynesia following a drug seizure have been charged with drug trafficking and remanded in prison.
Earlier this week, a passenger arriving in Tahiti from Los Angeles was detained after 1.2 kilograms of methamphetamine was found in his baggage.
Radio1 reports that subsequent raids were carried out and two residents were detained along with the woman who had accompanied the passenger.
It says the two locals had been jailed for drug crimes before.
In the searches, police found no additional drugs but seized a firearm.
It was reported that investigators linked the drug seizure to another case involving a French Polynesian man arrested for drugs offences in Los Angeles in June.
