12:27 pm on 18 September 2017

The Papua New Guinea Hunters will face the Sunshine Coast Falcons in the Intrust Super Cup rugby league grand final, after the Falcons outclassed Redcliffe Dolphins in yesterday's preliminary final.

Former Hunters winger Justin Olam scored the opening try after six minutes and added a second just before the hour mark, as the Falcons ran away with the match 40-14 at Dolphin Oval.

The Hunters had the weekend off after beating Redcliffe 6-4 in the major semi final.

The Port Moresby based club won their maiden minor premiership title this season but were thrashed 38-14 in their only match against Sunshine Coast during the regular season, way back at the start of April.

The Falcons also knocked the Hunters out of last season's finals series, ending the home side's 11 match winning streak at the National Football Stadium.

The Intrust Super Cup grand final will be held at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with the champions to advance to NRL State Championship match against the winners of the New South Wales Intrust Super Premiership.
