CNMI visitor numbers erupt

Visitor arrivals in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas increased by 25 percent in August, compared to the same period a year ago.

The Marianas Visitors Authority said visitor arrivals totaled 61,026 last month compared to 48,971 the previous year.

For the first 11 months of the fiscal year, total visits to the CNMI reached 602,176, easily surpassing total arrivals last year.

Arrivals from South Korea continued their double-digit growth up 70 percent.

Arrivals from China also grew significantly while the formerly strong Japan market continued to plummet.
