PNG on top at inaugural FIBA Melanesian Basketball Cup

Papua New Guinea have reigned supreme at the inaugural FIBA Melanesian Basketball Cup.

Both men and women's teams were crowned champions in front of their home supporters in Port Moresby at the weekend.

The PNG men defeated New Caledonia 81-61 whilst the women defeated Fiji 77-58.

The four-day tournament featured teams from all over Melanesia, including PNG, Solomon Islands, Fiji, New Caledonia and Vanuatu.

The top three teams earn qualification for the next Pacific Games.
