The head of the organisation which oversees Papua New Guinea's state owned enterprises has been sacked for drawing up a US$1.25 million package for himself.

Thomas Abe had drawn up and signed his own contract to head Kumul Consolidated Holdings, with a base salary of $US845,000, and a number of other conditions.
These included six weeks of annual leave, one business class return trip to Brisbane a year for him and his spouse, a monthly allowance for his rent, and that the company paid his children's school fees.
On top of this, the organisation paid for a domestic servant for Mr Abe, a telephone allowance, an $US8,000 entertainment allowance and his membership for a number of exclusive Port Moresby clubs.
The Post Courier reported that Mr Abe was sacked from Kumul, formerly known as the Public Business Corporation, in mid-September.
