Niue's top sports administrator has accepted an invitation to become a weightlifting official at next year's Commonwealth Games.
Alan Tano is the first Niuean sportsperson to be appointed an officer at the games, after he accepted an invitation from the International Weightlifting Federation's president, Tamas Ajan.
Mr Tano, a former police officer, is the owner of a local gym and has won a number of gold medals at regional competitions.
He has long been a mentor for local weightlifters.
