Efforts to safely remove asbestos in Fiji's Nausori underway

Fiji's Occupational Health and Safety Service is working with the Nausori Town Council to safely remove asbestos material from the old Nausori Market.

The service said the building materials containing asbestos are still intact and do not pose a threat to the public.

The Council has been consulted to determine the best time to remove and dispose of the materials to casue minimum disruption to traffic.

The service said it is is taking extreme care to ensure the removal process meets international standards and guarantees public safety.
