PNG police reservist dies in Port Moresby violence

A Papua New Guinea police reservist was killed and a number of houses burnt down in a violent incident in Port Moresby at the weekend.

Police have revealed the reservist was attacked by drunk youths who had been fighting for some time early on Sunday morning at 3 Mile.

They said the innocent man was set upon by a group using bush knives and iron rods.

Police also said the community where the dead man lived then retaliated, burning down five houses belonging to the families of the youths involved in the fighting.
