Nauru's minister for multicultural affairs, David Adeang, said the first refugees from Manus arrived a week ago including one man who was reunited with his wife.

Mr Adeang did not say how many refugees were transferred, and neither has the Australian government.

The minister said allegations of human rights abuses within Australian offshore detention on Nauru are falsities represented as facts.

Nauru has imposed a prohibitive $US6,000 visa application fee for journalists, but Mr Adeang says there is a lack of interest in presenting the truth about Nauru and what it is doing to provide refugees with a peaceful temporary home.
