The Lautoka High Court convicted them on two counts of sedition for planning a breakaway state in the Nadroga Navosa area in 2014.

Originally 16 people were charged but two have since died.

One of the accused is a chief and one a serving prisoner.

All the accused have 30 days to appeal against their sentence.

Two months ago, 14 people were given custodial sentences of up to three years for sedition for trying to set up a separate state in Ra province.
