American Samoa's only CT scan machine out of order

Patients at American Samoa's only hospital are unable to get CAT scans with the only machine out of commission for more than two months.

Parts were flown in recently to repair the machine, but it is still not fixed.

The hospital's chief executive, Faumuina John Faumuina, says the territory is far away from where the parts come from and he apologised for the delay.

In an earlier interview he said the continuous use of the single CAT scan is one reason why it continues to overheat.

Some patients are currently choosing to travel to Samoa and New Zealand to get scans done.
