The Vanuatu Daily Post reported the signing follows two months of negotiations that have resulted in a committment to increased revenue sharing with government and more training for ni-Vanuatu personnel in the administration of the registry.

The new contract hopes to improve certification and promotion of ni-Vanuatu seafarers on the vessels in the registry, and see the secondment of ni-Vanuatu Maritime officers with tertiary qualifications to international shipping registry offices in New York, Tokyo and Busan.
