Fiji's prime minister Frank Bainimarama has strongly criticised the Trade Union Congress General Secretary Felix Anthony for his comments about an industrial dispute at Nadi airport.

Last week, Mr Anthony warned that the country could be shut down if there was no resolution to the impasse at ATS.

Mr Bainimarama has told FBC News that Mr Anthony shouldn't be taken seriously because he is a joke and a B-Grade actor.

Last weekend, an estimated 2,500 people marched in Nadi to back the 200 workers who have been locked out for the past month.

Earlier, the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions held a demonstration in Wellington in support of workers at ATS.
