Tonga's Cabinet posts finally confirmed

The final two cabinet positions in Tonga have been announced, with Prime Minister 'Akilisi Pohiva being confirmed as Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Noble Representative Lord Ma'afu is the Minister for His Majesty's Armed Forces.

The two portfolios were the only ones not allocated and sworn in during the first sitting of parliament last week.

There were earlier reports in local media that Mr Pohiva was positioning himself to have what is effectively the defence portfolio.

The other portfolios are as follows:

Semisi Sika, People's Representative of Tongatapu 2 is Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Tourism.

Lord Ma'afu, Noble's Representative, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources.

Dr. Pohiva Tu'i'onetoa, People's Representative of Tongatapu 10 is Minister for Finance and National Planning.

Dr. Saia Ma'u Piukala, People's Representative of Tongatapu 14, is Minister for Health and Minister for Public Enterprises.

Penisimani Fifita, People's Representative of Tongatapu 9, is Minister for Education and Training.

Semisi Fakahau, People's Representative of Tongatapu 8, is Minister for Agriculture, Food, Forests and Fisheries.

Vuna Fa'otusia, People's Representative of Tongatapu 7, is Minister for Justice and Minister for Prisons.

Mateni Tapueluelu, People's Representative of Tongatapu 4, is Minister for Revenue and Customs and Minister for Police and Fire Services.

Poasi Tei, People's Representative of Tongatapu 6, is Minister for Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Communications and Climate Change.

'Akosita Lavulavu, People's Representative of Tongatapu 16, is Minister for Internal Affairs (and Sport).

Dr. Tu'i Uata is and unelected appointee as Minister of Commerce, Consumer, Trade, Innovation and Labour.
