Drunk drivers warned of new breath testers in Vanuatu

8:38 pm on 2 February 2018

Vanuatu's Police Commissioner Albert Nalpini says new breath testing equipment will not only catch drunk drivers on the roads but provide vital evidence to prosecute them.

The Vanuatu Daily Post reports the equipment, provided by the World Health Organisation, was presented on Thursday.

The WHO has also trained two senior officers how to use the kits.

Mr Nalpini told the Vanuatu Daily Post he was overjoyed as the equipment will help police carry out their duties more effectively.

He admitted that in the past courts had allowed suspects to go free due to lack of evidence.
