Papua New Guinea's police minister says the government is working on tougher legislation to deal with illegal possession of guns.

Late last year, Jelta Wong issued a ban on the purchase and issuance of new guns across the country.
But Mr Wong told parliament he was still concerned with an increasing number of gun-related killings and violent incidents in PNG in recent times.
He cited the shooting deaths of four policemen during last year's general election.
The minister has re-introduced to parliament a comprehensive gun report from around a decade ago which recommended a total ban on guns.
Mr Wong told MPs he prefers a total ban on illegal weapons only.
He said to do this, gun laws must be amended to be more stringent with people caught with illegal weapons.
Shopping centre shootout leaves one dead
Meanwhile, a shootout between two security guards in a shopping centre in Papua New Guinea's capital has left one person dead.
The shootout took place on Friday at Boroko Foodworld shopping centre during business hours.
Reports from Moresby indicate two Filipino Guards had an argument which led to a gunfire exchange.
According to police, an expatriate died and two nationals were injured.
