The Commonwealth Secretary General wants to see member countries collaborate more to improve the quality of education.

Patricia Scotland says a conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers in Nadi this week has been considering 'best practice tool kits' that can be shared across the 53 member countries.

It comes as the ministers contemplate how to build sustainable and resilient education systems in line with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

Ms Scotland says improving education systems is not necessarily about the developing countries needing more money for the sector.

"Many of our countries are small, yes many of our countries do not have a great deal of money but what we are talking about together is how we can be smarter and how through collaboration and co-operation our 53 members can really make sure that no child is left behind."
