China's President Xi Jinping is expected to join other leaders from the Asia Pacific region in coming to PNG for the summit.

The convention centre was built by China Jiangxi Corporation for International Economic and Technical Co-operation, a large scale Chinese state-owned contractor.

The highway project, which prime minister Peter O'Neill has overseen the opening of, cost US$ 33-million, according to the Post Courier.
