This comes as a package of around a kilogram of suspected cocaine washed ashore at the US military's Andersen Air Force Base this week.

According to Guam's Drug Enforcement Administration, the package was similar to a larger cocaine package that washed ashore in Mangilao last month.

The Pacific Daily News reported that police have arrested a number of people in recent weeks for alleged cocaine offences.

Police said while cocaine was not a new thing in Guam, there appeared to be a surge in activity around it.

However, the main drug concern for Guam police remains methamphetamine.
