Cyber safety promoted on Nauru

Nauru police are to undertake a community-wide cyber safety campaign.

Developed by the Australian police force, Cyber Safety Pasifika aims to highlight the risks of online bullying, predatory behaviour and crime.

Nauru police commissioner Corey Caleb said the internet had been a massive benefit to small nations due to their isolation but there were risks, particularly as people were often very trusting of others.

Police on Nauru would start the education process by visiting schools to ensure all students understood the core principles of staying safe on the internet, he said.
