Papua New Guinea weightlifter Dika Toua could be in line for another gold medal after her Commonwealth Games rival failed a doping test.
The International Weightlifting Federation says India's Sanjita Chanu Khumukcham returned a positive test for testosterone at the Gold Coast Games in April and has been provisionally suspended.
The 24 year-old Khumukcham won gold in the women's 53kg division on the Gold Coast with a total lift of 192kg, including a new Games Record in the snatch.
PNG's Dika Toua finished 10kg adrift in second place after failing to complete her final two attempts in the clean and jerk.
But the 33 year old Toua is now in line for back to back Commonwealth Games gold if her Indian rival's B sample also returns a positive result.
Dika Toua won the gold medal in the same event at the 2014 Games in Glasgow and a silver in Melbourne in 2006, while Khumukcham was also a gold medallist in the women's 48kg division four years ago.
The International Weightlifting Federation said it would not make any further comments on the case until it is closed.
