French Polynesia's pro-independence member of the French National Assembly, Moetai Brotherson, says he will keep both his Paris seat and his seat in French Polynesia's assembly.

In May, Mr Brotherson won a seat for the Tavini Huiraatira party, which is led by Oscar Temaru.

At the time, Mr Brotherson said he would decide within three months whether he could manage two mandates at the same time.

Mr Brotherson had earlier been sceptical about politicians holding multiple mandates but he now says he can coordinate the two positions.

Under French law, politicians are allowed to accumulate mandates.
