Police officer arrested in Tonga drug raid

A police officer in Tonga has been suspended after a police drug raid.

The Police Drug Taskforce raid netted 8.32 grams of methamphetamine, 1.32 grams of cannabis seeds, cash, electronic devices and a live bullet during the raid.

The 31-year-old police officer was arrested in Ngele'ia during the raid.

Acting police commissioner Pelenatita Vaisuai, Tonga Police, in a statement, said the off-duty police officer was arrested with four other men.

Magistrate Salesi Mafi ordered all five suspects to be remanded in police custody until this Friday.

The police investigation continues.
