The United States government said Admiral Phil Davidson, who commands America's oldest and largest military combatant unit, the US Indo-Pacific Command, will visit Fiji's capital Suva tomorrow.

It's the first stop in a tour of several Pacific nations.

The admiral will meet prime minister Frank Bainimarama and other senior government and military officials.

Discussions will centre on what the US describes as the two countries' important strategic partnership and identify new areas for cooperation.
