Police investigate Samoa public servant fired for impropriety

Samoan police are investigating the former assistant chief executive of the Ministry of Works, Transport and Infrastructure.

Faleniu Mark Alesana, who was the head of the ministry's maritime division, was recently fired over alleged impropriety in his dealings with an Indian company.

The deputy police commissioner confirmed a criminal investigation had been opened.

Faleniu told the Samoa Observer ,however, he had not been informed by the police of any criminal investigation.
