Uproar in Morobe over rape of nursing students

There has been a public uproar in Morobe in Papua New Guinea after two nursing students who were helping with mass polio vaccinations in the province were raped.

According to the National Broadcaster both of the students were doing there practical assignments at the local Etap Health Centre when they were raped.

The pair have been airlifted to Lae for medical treatment.

The Lae School of Nursing has confirmed the incidents occurred and said police are investigating.

Many locals have been angered by the rapes especially given the victims were there to help their communities.
