US allocates money for FSM and Marshalls

The United States has allocated $US65 million for the Federated States of Micronesia and over $US36 million for the Marshall Islands under their respective Compacts of Free Association.

The allocations were announced after an annual meeting of top officials in Hawai'i.

The education and health sectors received the biggest portion of the FSM allocation with public sector capacity building, private sector development, environment and infrastructure also being provided for.

Education and infrastructure were priorities for funding in the Marshalls.
