Drew Shindell has co-authored a key climate report to be unveiled in South Korea this month.

The Guardian reports the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report is set to reveal how remote the possibility is of getting to the targeted limit of web use 1.5C above the pre-industrial period.

He said while it's technically possible, it's extremely improbable, without a real sea change in the way risk is evaluated.

The scientist said it would require a rapid phaseout of fossil fuels, the mass deployment of solar and wind energy and the eradication of emissions from cars, trucks and airplanes.
