The meeting, organised by the South Pacific Tourism Organisation, was held in Apia recently to discuses strategies for industry and how best to utilise the region's resources.

The organisation's Chairwoman, Sonja Young, says the theme of the meeting, 'Protecting our Blue Pacific, our Livelihood and our Home', relates to protecting both the environment and the people of the Pacific.

"It's looking at progressing the lives of people and the industries and also at same time and cultural sustainability and ensuring the pristine environment, as per our cultural beliefs because we are just custodians for our further generations."
