In Vanuatu the suspect in the killing of a 15-year-old secondary school student is in custody in Port Vila after being arrested in South East Malekua and flown to the capital under tight police security.

The man, Etienne John Samuel, of Kurumambe Village on Tongoa has made his first court appearance while police undertake further investigation for a preliminary hearing in November.
Meanwhile, police have thanked the public on Tongoa and Malekula Islands for their co-operation in the arrest of the suspect.
