Papua New Guinea's Police Commissioner has farewelled a small New Zealand police contingent that has been in country on an assistance programme.

Gari Baki thanked them for their support during the official opening of the Water Police Headquarters at Konedobu in Port Moresby.
Along with Australia, the US and Indonesia, New Zealand has been assisting PNG with security preparations for the APEC Leaders summit it hosts in November.
The New Zealand contingent has been assisting with technical training for police among other areas.
The commissioner said the opening of the new headquarters was made possible by contributions from both Australia and New Zealand.
The headquarters would enable the water police "to function in safe and secure work environment to store and maintain significant catalogue of assets", Mr Baki said.
