It may take a year for power to be fully restored to the Northern Marianas island of Tinian after last week's Super Typhoon, according to the local mayor.

Joey Patrick San Nicolas said the island was facing a long road to full recovery after Super Typhoon Yutu devastated the municipality.
He said estimates showed that it could take up to a year for power to be fully restored.
Mr San Nicolas said currently the entire island of Tinian is without power.
He said preliminary assessments indicated 50 percent power restoration within three months.
Over 750 power poles were brought down and nine transformers damaged during the storm.
Meanwhile, Mr San Nicolas says over 33,000 water bottles and over 18,000 meals have been distributed to the community.
He said the US Air Force had also set up a reverse osmosis system with the capacity for 30,000 gallons.
