A price freeze has been announced by the Northern Marianas Governor in a move aimed at stopping unscrupulous retailers from taking advantage of people reeling from the devastation brought about by last week's Super Typhoon Yutu.

The price freeze will be in effect until Ralph Torres rescinds all declarations of emergency and disaster.
It will include fuel and gas as well as food, water, beverages, clothing, lighting devices, generators, electrical supplies and bedding items.
All appliances used for the storage or preparation of food and cleaning tools have also been included.
Violation of the Consumer Disaster Price Freeze Act is punishable by a $US10,000 fine and one year of imprisonment.
