4:22 pm on 27 November 2018

American Samoa's Department of Public Health has advised people to stop consuming Romain Lettuce which is imported from the United States.

Last week, US authorities warned that the food-borne pathogen E.coli had been found on the lettuce.

The local Department of Health is now working with stores to stop the selling of this type of lettuce.

Locally grown lettuce is not affected by the warning.

Symptoms of E.coli can include severe stomach cramps, diarrhoea, vomiting and fever.
