There have been celebrations in French Polynesia after Miss Tahiti won the Miss France contest.

Vaimalama Chaves became the first Tahitian woman to secure the French title since 1999 after the previous five Miss Tahiti had either come second or third.
The contest was broadcast live and was shown on huge public viewing screens, including at the presidential building.
In the lead-up to the show, the government released a video in her support in which people were urged to vote via text messages for Miss Tahiti.
On winning the title, it congratulated her for bringing so much happiness and pride to all the people.
