The mayor of Vanuatu's capital, Port Vila, has issued a public apology for his involvement in a hit-and-run last week.
Lord Mayor Albert Daniel was arrested and faces trial after he drunkenly crashed his official car into a bus carrying tourists in North Efate.
Mr Daniel yesterday apologised to the people of Port Vila, saying he failed the confidence he had been entrusted with.
