The government said the proposed reforms were part of efforts to reduce political instability and enhance the integrity of parliament.

The political reform package consists of one new law, an amendment to the Constitution, and amendments to two existing laws.

The Chairman of the Task Force on the Constitutional Review, Ralph Regenvanu, said voting will take place on 4 June and people will be asked a question in relation to the reforms.

He said those who agree with the question will indicate their answer with a green card and those who disagree with a red card.

Mr Regenvanu told the Vanuatu Daily Post a budget has been secured for the national referendum.
