Tourism operators in Fiji have been told to treat locals the same way as they treat visitors from around the world.

Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama told industry stakeholders he has received complaints from Fijians who have not felt welcome at hotels and resorts around the country.
Mr Bainimarama said tourism operators must share their hospitality with anyone who arrives at their door.
"To do business in our country, you must be open to all of our people - all of the time. They deserve the same level of service, they deserve the same level of attention and they certainly deserve to feel welcome at resorts around the country.....full-stop."
Mr Bainimarama said as the tourism industry continues to grow, Fijians need to think more seriously about how to make that growth and the industry more inclusive.
"The resorts continue to develop because of the arrival of more visitors and other high-paying selection of travellers," he said.
He said spreading the economic impact of the tourism sector - far and wide - could cultivate an industry that benefits all Fijians.
"I would like to see tourism benefiting all Fijians - not some Fijians or some big overseas companies - but all Fijians everywhere in Fiji."
