Marco Taitano Peter of the Republican Party claimed victory in the special election on Saturday in the Northern Marianas.

The vote for the Precinct 3 House of Representatives seat was left vacant following the death of representative Francisco Dela Cruz in January.
According to unofficial results from the Commonwealth Election Commission, Mr Peter received 863 total votes to emerge victorious in the four horse race.
Donald Cabrera Barcinas of the Democratic Party was second with 447 votes.
