Toilet-builders set to leave remote island in Fiji

From , 3:04 pm on 20 September 2016

A group of volunteers on Fiji's remote Koro Island are heading home this week after six months of building toilets and living in tents.

After Cyclone Winston killed eight people on the island and left most people homeless, the All Hands Volunteers came in to build toilets.

Its director, Reuben Grandon, says his group has achieved a ten-person-to-one-toilet ratio, after arriving in March.

He told Alex Perrottet the toilets are designed to last another six months before permanent housing with flush toilets can be built.
