Cash reward necessary to catch criminals - Solomons Police

From , 4:03 pm on 21 November 2016

The Solomons Islands police says a reward offer for information about an attack on a boat indicates they are extremely serious about finding those responsible.

In December 2014 a vessel chartered by politicians was shot at and set on fire at Mbike Island in Central Province on the eve of the election of the prime minister.

Five people have been committed to trial which is due to start next year but police investigations have been plagued by delays.

The Commissioner Frank Prendergast told Koroi Hawkins he hopes the reward of up to 12-thousand-US-dollars ($SBD100,000) will entice people who are withholding information to come forward.
