From , 6:01 am on 20 February 2017

The Cook Islands Health Minister is rejecting suggestions his government's lack of expenditure on health is producing a two-tier system.

Instead Nandi Glassie says the delivery of health care in the Cook Islands is among the best in the region.

A prominent New Zealand based surgeon George Ngaei has labelled the Cook Islands health budget of three-point-four percent of GDP a disgrace.

But while the Minister accepts its well below World Health Organisation requirements of about five percent, he told Jo O'Brien its the best that can be expected within budget constraints.
