NZ Pacific population growth drives demand for books

From , 6:01 am on 3 April 2017

The continued growth of New Zealand's young pacific population has resulted in a high need for more children's literature on pacific stories and pacific language books.

New Zealand children's author Shane Rosemeyer is working to help fill that need by creating children's books that promote pacific languages.

He goes by the author name Jahri Jah Jah and has so far written and published 12 pacific island language books for children which include words and phrases as well as counting in different languages.

Mr Rosemeyer spoke with Indira Stewart at Auckland's recent Pasifika festival and says some of his books are already being sold across the pacific region.
