The leader of Papua New Guinea's Pangu Pati says he is ready to help form a new alternative government.

Sam Basil has won by a landslide in his district of Bulolo, while Pangu has won two of the first ten seats to be declared in PNG's national election.

While most of the 111 parliament seats are yet to be declared, the ruling People's National Congress party of Peter O'Neill has the early lead.

But the Pangu Pati is shaping up strongly in various provinces, especially in Morobe province, as Mr Basil told Johnny Blades.
