Push for Cooks Coroner to inquire into woman's disappearance

From , 6:04 am on 2 October 2017

There are calls in the Cook Islands for authorities to do more to investigate the disappearance of a Venezuelan woman who was lost at sea about 40 nautical miles off the coast of Rarotonga more than a year ago.

The Australian skipper of the yacht the woman was on has been allowed to leave the Cook Islands while his yacht is steadily decaying at a wharf in Rarotonga.

A retired Australian policeman who lives on Rarotonga, Rod Henderson, has tried to fathom what had happened to the woman and he feels police and other agencies there have not done enough.

He told Don Wiseman there are many unanswered questions around the disappearance and he would like the Cook Islands Coroner to hold an inquest.
