Kiribati holding out hope for more survivors of ferry disaster

People in Kiribati are still hoping more passengers lost at sea after their ferry sank a fortnight ago will be found.

Local authorities have confirmed 88 people including 10 primary school children and 13 high school students, boarded the MV Butiraoi before it left Nonouti Island bound for the capital Tarawa - a two day journey of about 250 kilometres.

The catamaran never made it and is believed to have sunk on the 18th of January however it was not reported missing until the 28th.
