Life-time ban sought for convicted Tahiti politicians

A life-time ban for politicians with criminal convictions is being proposed by French Polynesia's Moetai Brotherson.

As a pro-independence member of the French National Assembly, Mr Brotherson has tabled a bill to that end in Paris.

It won't be up for debate before French Polynesia's elections in April, when convicted politicians, including President Edouard Fritch, want to win an assembly seat.

Walter Zweifel asked Mr Brotherson why he proposed such a law.
