A new study has found that people in the Pacific living with the human immunodeficiency virus or HIV still experience high levels of stigma and discrimination.

The Fiji Network of People Living with HIV, which conducted the study, say it is the first such a comprehensive investigation into stigma and discrimination has been done in the Pacific.

As Sela Jane Hopgood reports it is hope the The People Living with HIV Stigma Index Study, will be used to inform programmes, interventions and policies to ensure more effective HIV responses in the region.
