PNG governor takes on corrupt loggers

A Papua New Guinea governor who took matters into his own hands to clear an illegal logging operation says others need to do the same.

Last week in Oro Province, Governor Gary Juffa escorted a team in to shut down the operation at Collingwood Bay, seized its heavy equipment and arrested a group of foreign workers.

Mr Juffa says the company had been aided by a number of corrupt officials who provided fraudulent permits.

He told Jamie Tahana that when he got wind of it, he ordered his administrators to shut it down. Then when that didn't happen, he took matters into his own hands.
