Questions over hospital upgrade motives in Fiji

Fiji's government is seeking expressions of interest from international private hospital operators to help it upgrade and run the Ba and Lautoka hospitals.

It says the upgrade will provide medical tourism opportunities as well as improved services for locals.

However, the Fiji Nurses Association says it's concerned about the possible public-private partnership .

The nurses' union says it was alerted to the plan by unions in Australia and New Zealand.
